Ekiugbo and Otor-Iwhreko communities have resumed hostilities following the alleged killing of three persons over the unresolved market dispute in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State.
It was gathered that the deceased, two men and a woman were shot and their corpses dropped at the entrance to one of the communities while the woman was shot at the front of her store, died at the hospital.
According sources from one of the communities, we have no issues with them because the matter is before the Delta state government and our traditional ruler and we have be living together peacefully.
“But just this afternoon two of our brothers, one simply identified as Odibo Odugbo and the other who could not be identified were killed and they dropped off their corpse at the market with Siena car that had inscriptions of local vigilante.
The source who spoke on anonymous condition, further disclosed, “They came with two vehicles, shooting sporadically and one woman who sells plastics at the market was shot and with the information at our disposal, she has died from the bullets.
“The Odibo son that was killed, his father was also killed by same people and till date the corpse has not been found and they have come again to kill his son.
Efforts to speak with presidents general of both communities was not successful but when the newsmen visited the communities, the corpses of the two men were seen being dropped at the market road junction.
The Delta state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright could not confirm the incident as calls to his mobile line were not returned as at the time of this report.
But a senior Police Officer attached to the Ughelli Area Command who confirmed the incident said, security agents has been drafted in to maintain peace.
The security source said, “We learned that some of the people want to block the road but we will not allowed that to happen”.
However, as at the time of this report, tension is high.
